Why People Change Payroll Providers

For most of us, running payroll probably isn't the highlight of the day.

Maybe for your employees it is, but for you, running payroll is probably just one more dumb thing you gotta do.

So in that regard, each time you run payroll you hope it will be easy and without problems.

When it is not, frustrations happen.

Changing payroll providers might not be for any one particular reason, it might be a series of events that have made it harder, or have broken your trust.

Have you experienced any of these?

  • Your payroll provider keeps raising rates each year

  • Each time you call for assistance, you get a different service rep who doesn't know you

  • Your bill includes items you never expected

  • The software seems outdated

  • They don't have the features you are hoping for

  • Time tracking is an additional expense

  • Payroll errors with fines

If you have any of these frustrations, just know it is not hard to switch, it's a lot easier than what folks might tell you.

The easiest time to switch is January 1st, as it does not require you to balance your historical payroll, but switching in the middle of the year is perfectly fine too.
