What CHROs are Thinking

Most companies that use Webtimeclock are small businesses with smaller teams, but to keep up with trends, it can be helpful to know what larger organizations are doing.

Gartner surveyed 426 chief human resources officers (CHROs) to identify four top priorities for 2026, here they are:

Harness AI to Revolutionize HR
CHROs want to craft a "clearly defined, HR-focused AI strategy." Not everyone loves AI, but apparently CHROs do. From this priority it is apparent they still have not wrapped their head around AI yet, but are still trying.

Shape Work in the Human-Machine Era
Still buying in on the AI thing, CHROs are making a priority of using AI toward their talent strategy. One buzzword is "human-AI" which is more or less having employees use AI at work.

Mobilize Leaders for Growth in an Uncertain World
Leaders are prioritizing change as a routine, not just talking about it. The point being that change only happens when you make the change.

Address Culture Atrophy to Power Performance
This priority is to drive results, CHROs will try to "embed the desired culture into employee's daily work." Not sure why this is a priority, it seems like it should be a normal day's work for someone in HR.

For small businesses however, owners and managers probably think more in terms of ROI. For example, does the technology we use really help us or not? Does our leadership style promote more productive work and help keep talent.

What matters more is what works for you.
