Why an Auto Repair Shop Tossed Their Time Clock
One of the many industries we serve is the auto industry. Think of tire shops, auto parts stores, auto repair shops, and auto dealers of course.
This makes sense because most of those businesses have hourly employees on payroll and are often considered small businesses.
As an example, one of our customers is a busy auto repair shop located in the middle of Chicago, serving Logan Square, Bucktown, and Wicker Park. Established in 1998, they are ASE-certified and service all makes and models.
Why change?
Although many repair shops use physical time clocks mounted to a wall, this particular shop decided on our exclusive Webtimeclock kiosk web-app available to employees in their front office.
For them, this means not having to purchase, mount, or maintain a physical time clock, all they need is a browser on a tablet, laptop, or desktop PC using a special URL. Nothing to download or install—it could not be easier, not to mention miles ahead of using any old-fashioned time clock.
How they clock in now
To clock in, employees tap or click their PIN. The kiosk web-app then confirms the punch and allows the employee options such as entering a comment or selecting a job. Once confirmed, the app automatically resets, ready for the next employee.
Managing time
The office manager has online access to all her employee timecards to run reports and to add punches in case someone forgot to punch. At the end of the pay period, all the hours are ready to download, or send to the shop's payroll provider.
Gone are the days of paper time cards, manual calculation, and all the associated errors. Now she has more time to devote to customers.
We are honored to help serve the auto industry. If that includes you, please give Webtimeclock a free trial, we'll help keep your business running.
